Traceability

In New Zealand all cattle are tagged with NAIT tags

In New Zealand all cattle are tagged with National Animal Identification Tracing (NAIT) tags and are then registered in the NAIT system which is managed by the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

The (NAIT) programme records the location and movement of individual animals, as traceability is important for food safety and quality assurance programmes and helps protect stock from disease and harm, farmer’s livelihoods and New Zealand’s reputation and economy as a leading supplier of premium farm product

When it comes to traceability of leather sourced from Silver Fern Farms, we ensure the NAIT tag remains with each hide as it moves from our farms, through our Factory and on to Tasman Tanning where they track the hide right through the tanning process, providing auditable evidence of the origin and provenance of our premium net carbon zero leather.
