Supplier Update 2 September 2022

Kia ora,

It’s been a rewarding few weeks to hear back from the activity of our teams in our markets, and no more so than in China where we are seeing promising signs that they are back up and running after a Covid-disrupted first half of 2022.

In the last few weeks, our Shanghai-based team have run product training with 50 of our key customers, and have just attended an Annual Meat Consumption Conference giving us a great opportunity to showcase our product in front of customers and food service companies.

There’s no substitute for getting closer to the end consumer, and building strong relationships with our partners in our markets is a big focus for us. On that note, we’ve got some positive news on the horizon through a new partnership with a high-end Chinese supermarket, and I’ll have more to share on that in our next update.

Back home we’ve also continued some success on the sustainability front by retaining our Toitū Diamond status for our environmental practices, and we’ve also made the finalists of the 2022 International Business Awards in the Sustainability category.

In today’s Market Report we cover a more detailed overview of our recent in-market activity, have details of a new appointment to the Co-operative Board, and our regular market insights across beef, sheepmeat, and venison.
