Supplier Update 18 March 2022

While we are still in the thick of Omicron, it’s pleasing to see that some of our North Island processing sites are starting to come through the other side. However, the impact across other communities is really starting to bite for some of our South Island sites who are seeing reductions in production.

We still have a few rough weeks ahead and we expect Omicron will have a long tail, but we’re really pleased with how our people are fronting up under challenging conditions.

We haven’t lost sight of the fact that longer wait-times are having an impact on farm as well. Make sure you download today’s Report for a more detailed outlook on capacity impacts across the country.

You may have seen in the news that Omicron is starting to have impacts in China with increasing lockdowns there. We’re in regular contact with our Shanghai-based team to understand first-hand the potential disruption this could cause in one of our key markets. We’ll keep you posted on these developments in our next update.

Despite the disruption, we haven’t taken our foot off the pedal with our products and marketing. In today’s Report we give an overview of the upcoming supermarket launch of our new burger range and show how you can get your hands on this product earlier and at a discounted price. There’s also an update on the Net Carbon Zero beef programme which remains full steam ahead in the US.

We’ve also put together our Venison Pricing Outlook where we outline our expectations for frozen and chilled in-spec pricing, and we have our regular updates on beef, sheepmeats and venison global markets.
