Supplier Update 14 April 2022

A relief for some today as the country moves down a level to Orange Light settings. This is a positive marker in our return to normality, though by no means a solution to the impacts still in effect. We’re monitoring a number of challenges closely and our sites around the country are working overtime to get livestock processed as quickly as possible.

Last week I was fortunate to make my first (fleeting) overseas market visit in over two years. While we have adopted new ways of connecting digitally, there is no substitute for meeting with our customers in person, and this trip to North America marks another important step for our business as we reconnect with the world.

A particular acknowledgement to farmers in the South who are struggling with drought conditions at present. Our livestock team is moving large numbers of store animals to suppliers with more feed available, and we’re also moving some stock to processing sites in different regions, to ease the pressure on those worst affected.

In this week’s update Chief Supply Chain Officer Dan Boulton gives an update on our processing position almost two months into the Omicron outbreak, plus an update on 2022 Know Your Number workshops, Co-operative director elections, Youth Scholarships, and the latest from the markets.
