Using world-leading grass-fed farming systems means Silver Fern Farms farmers produce animals more naturally with little intervention. A diet of nutrient-rich grass results in high-quality, tasty pet nutrition ingredients. Compared to grain-fed, grass-fed products:

  • Are naturally leaner, with less saturated fat and fewer calories.
  • Have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and a healthier omega-3 to omega-6 ratio.
  • Are higher in antioxidants, vitamin A and E, and conjugated linoleic acids.

Ovine Products

  •
    Ovine Heart
    The heart, with arteries and veins removed at their entry point. Hearts that have been downgraded by ASURE and hearts that have sustained damage can be included.
  • Ovine Liver
    The liver, minus the gall bladder, is removed from the abdominal viscera. Livers downgraded by ASURE, dark or especially light-coloured livers, part livers and livers with major cuts can be included.
  • Ovine Kidney
    The skinned kidney. Kidneys downgraded by ASURE, and damaged kidneys may be included.
  • Ovine Skirts
    Consists of the thick and thin skirts. Skirts that have been downgraded by ASURE, discoloured or pieces of skirt, or skirts having sustained knife damage can be included.
  • Ovine Spleen
    Spleen as removed from the carcass untrimmed. Spleens downgraded by ASURE, damaged spleens and pieces of spleen can be included.
  • Ovine Medium Fat Trim Block
    Ovine Medium Fat Trim and Trachea (MTF) Block FZ OVINE MEDIUM FAT TRIM Medium fat trim consists of the trachea and neck trim but can also include skirt meat, hearts and testicles if they are not being saved for other items.

Bovine Products

  •
    Beef Heart Cap On
    The heart is removed from the pericardium. The arteries and veins are trimmed frim the base. Hearts downgraded by ASURE, discoloured hearts or hearts with knife damage can be included
  • Beef Liver
    The liver, minus the gall bladder, is removed from the abdominal viscera, with lymph glands, veins and any traces of aorta removed. Livers downgraded by ASURE, dark or especially light-coloured livers, part livers and livers with major cuts can be included.
  • Beef Kidney
    The kidney is separated from the kidney fat, vessel ends are removed, and the kidney is fully skinned of all outer membrane. Kidneys downgraded by ASURE, or downgraded due to major cuts, can be included.
  • Beef Lung
    Lungs with the Trachea removed. Lungs downgraded by ASURE. Damaged lungs and pieces of lung can be included.
